Dr Bassuni is a British consultant laparoscopic colorectal and bariatric surgeon. He was born in Egypt and received his basic medical degree from Alexandria University
Dr Bassuni has more than 20 years as an established Consultant Surgeon in the UK.He worked for the NHS (National Health Service- UK) and as a Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor in Sheffield University, UK.
Dr Bassuni has also been awarded the position of visiting professor in Colorectal Surgery at Mansoura University, Egypt.
Dr Bassuni has been the lead clinician (Head of Department) for Colorectal Cancer in a large Teaching Hospital and the Chair of Colorectal Cancer Network in North Trent Region of the UK.
He was trained in the UK at : University Hospital of Wales (Cardiff), St Mark’s hospital (London) and Birmingham Heartland teaching hospital (Midlands)
He also received advanced training in Europe at: University of Strasbourg, France and Perugia University, Italy.

Dr Bassuni has established a very active Enhanced Recovery after Surgery Programme in Trent Region, UK and co-founded the Middle East Enhanced Recovery after Surgery Society in UAE
Dr Bassani’s interest in surgical training and teaching is demonstrated in setting up regular workshops and training courses in the field of laparoscopic colorectal surgery and pelvic floor disorders.
Dr Bassuni is accredited trainer in diagnostic and therapeutic colonoscopy for colorectal cancer screening by Joint Committee of Gastroenterology, Great Britain He is also an accredited trainer in Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery by the UK National training programme (Lapco)

Mr Bassuni has worked as Chair of Surgery, Head of Department of Surgery and consultant surgeon in two major private hospitals in Abu Dhabi, UAE for a year (2013-2014)
